The goal of the WHO Internship program 2021 is to provide a practical understanding of the work carried out at WHO. Thus, it is suitable for applicants interested in international development, specifically those who seek professional experience in subjects related to the promotion of global health.

The organization’s diversified environment enables cultural and experience exchange with professionals of various nationalities and different educational and professional backgrounds.

This internship program is a good opportunity for participants to know and experience the work dynamics, internal policies and routine of the organization.

It is opened to applicants who are atleast 20 years of age, and it runs for six to twenty four weeks.

Eligibility.

To successfully apply for the WHO Internship Program 2021, all applicants must ensure they:

  • are at least twenty years of age on the date of application.
  • are enrolled at a University or Equivalent Institution leading to a formal qualification (graduate or postgraduate) (applicants who have already graduated may also qualify)
  • have completed three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution prior to commencing (bachelor’s level or equivalent) the assignment.
  • are not related to a WHO staff member (e.g., son/daughter, brother/sister, or mother/father).
  • have not previously participated in the WHO’s Internship Programme.
  • hold a valid passport of a WHO Member State.

Requirements.

  • Qualified applicants must be enrolled in a graduate school program (Master’s or PhD), or; Be enrolled in the last school year of an undergraduate school program (Bachelor’s level or equivalent), or; Have graduated from an undergraduate or graduate course in the last 6 months.
  • They must have working knowledge in English (reading, speaking and writing). Knowledge of another official language of a specific WHO office may be advantageous in the selection process.
  • They should be have the skill of communication, teamwork and show willingness to learn from mistakes.
  • Knowledge of specialized computer programmes in statistical software may be an advantage and also applicants should be knowledgeable in the use of basic computer programmes.
  • The Internship program doesn’t require any work experience. However, previous work experiences can be an added advantage.
