The College of Winnipeg is a public research university in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, that provides undergraduate faculties of art, business and economics, education, science and kinesiology and applied health as graduate programs. Founding colleges were Manitoba College and Wesley College, which merged to form United College in 1938. The University of Winnipeg was established in 1967 when United College received gotten its constitution.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must meet up with the following qualification criteria to apply for the scholarship

  • The candidate must be an international student.
  • All students are eligible, regardless of citizenship.
  • All full-time graduate students in thesis, course-based, practicum-based, or project-based programs are eligible to apply, except students in the Theology, and Joint Masters Programs.
  • Must have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.75 in the last 60 credits hours of study.
  • Must be entering the first or second year of an eligible master’s program as of May or September of the current year or January of the upcoming year.
  • Must be enrolled a full-time master’s program.

Benefits of the Programs

The scholarship will be awarded as follows:

  • The University of Winnipeg Graduate Student Scholarship is valued at $15,000 for 12 months. 
  • Students will get enormous help in covering up their high-cost educational expenses.
  • There will be no automatic renewals for a second year.

Step 1: Apply for Admission

Eligible students are asked to apply for admission at the University of Winnipeg through an online process. The applicants are asked to download and fill out an application form to apply for any graduate course, and then they will get automatically considered for the scholarship program.

Step 2: Submit Required Documents

  • Two references, one from your graduate program committee chair or graduate advisor/supervisor and one from an individual who can speak to your academic excellence and community engagement. References can use the UWGSS Appraisal Form or their letterhead. 
  • A Community Engagement and Academic Curriculum Vitae. This should include conference/paper presentations, funding history, relevant work/volunteer experience, etc. 
  • Transcripts (UWinnipeg Transcripts can be unofficial copies)

Entry Requirements

  • Candidates must meet the general country/study curriculum entry requirement.
  • You must demonstrate English language skills and meet the general admission criteria following the country/curriculum you studied.
  • A minimum overall academic IELTS band score of 6.5 and a minimum score of 6.0 for the writing and reading categories*. TOEFL- A minimum score of 550 with no less than 50 in each component. TOEFL – A minimum score of 86 with no less than 19 in each component 
  • You must not have graduated from high school or attended university or college.

Visa Requirements

Most international students studying in Canada are issued a Study Permit before arriving in Canada, issued by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) when the University of Winnipeg accepts students.  Applicants are encouraged to apply for the Study Permit as far as possible, after receiving the Letter of Acceptance from The University of Winnipeg.
